An ER (entity relationship) diagram depicts relationships between entities (people, concepts, objects, etc.) within a system.
The purpose of an ER diagram is to visually depict the entities within a system and show the inter-relationships between them.
ER diagrams are used by analysts designing a database but also in business and even sports.
Label each entity, relationship, and attribute with an appropriate and concise name; remove vague or unnecessary relationships between entities; do not connect a relationship to another relationship
