A user flow outlines the step-by-step path a user takes to reach their goal or complete a task on your website or app. To get a better understanding, check out these user flow diagram examples.
The purpose of a user flow diagram – also known as a task flow or flowchart – is to help you visualize the pathway a user takes and then optimize it to be as user-centered as possible.
User flows can be used by anyone who wants to improve the steps of a process, whether it's for an existing one or optimizing user flow for a minimum viable product. In the digital world, they're most often used by UX designers and web developers.
Use universally accepted flowchart symbols, keep spacing between shapes constant, format user flow from left to right or top to bottom, get feedback from your team and iterate as much as necessary.
